What Avon says about the product :
My take on the product
Avon has launched is long wear range of makeup is a new avatar in this campaign and part of this range was the Extra lasting kajal with a smudger at the other end. Since this looked like a possible cheaper dupe of Lakme Absolute Ultimate kohl , I decided to try this one out.
The Avon extra lasting kajal comes in a sleek black encased wooden pencil packaging with the kajal pencil at one end and the smudger at the other end. Both ends have transparent caps for easy identification. The brand name, product name and other details and printed in red on the body of the pencil. The packaging looks quite nice and it looks more expensive by the look !
The texture of this kajal is smooth but not too soft. It is decently pigmented but its not one of those blackest black kohls. One would need to go over 2-3 times to get the pigmentation shown in the swatch and the EOTD. It has a dry powdery finish instead of the slightly waxy, wet looking finish that most kajals have. The smudger on the other end is made of rubber and does the job of smudging fairly well without too much effort. Regarding wear time, it doesn’t last the entire day on my eyes. After about 5-6 hours of wear, it appears quite faded from the waterline. The good part is that it does not smudge or bleed and one won’t get raccon eyes while wearing this kajal. When it fades from the waterline, it seems to settle at the lower lash line so the eyes do not appear bare. Packing some black/brown eye shadow on lower lash line extends the wear time considerably – this way it stays on for 8-9+ hours easily.
It didn’t sharpen so well and there was quite a bit of product wastage, I feel they should have used slightly better wood for the pencil so that it sharpens smoothly.
Since it has a smudger at one end, one can do a quick soft smokey eye like the one I’m sporting in the EOTD. Its a nice kajal for the price but its neither too long lasting nor ultra black. At this price, it pretty much delivered what I had expected. Despite its cons, I would still recommend it!
My EOTD : I have applied the kajal on waterline and upper lash line (Thickly) and smudged the edges with the smudger provided at the other end.
Avon Extra lasting kajal and 2-in-1 smudger comes in a wooden pencil packaging with a smudger at one end. The texture is smooth and it has a dry powdery finish. The pigmentation is good but its a softer black, not an ultra black kind of kohl. It doesn’t smudge or bleed, just fades after 5-6 hours of wear. Setting with black/brown eye shadow on lower lash line extends the wear time considerably and the kohl lasts 9+ hours easily. The smudger at the end makes it quite convenient to do quick smokey eye looks. I wish the pigmentation and wood quality was a little better but despite these drawbacks, its a decent kohl for the price.
Would recommend it at the discounted price.
