My take on the product
The product comes in a silver tube packaging with a lengthening mascara at one end and a volumizing mascara at the other end. The tube has small labels saying ‘lengthening‘ and ‘volumizing‘ at the mascara wand end but does not have a label at the other end. As a result, I ended up opening both the tubes for taking photographs and then had a tough time figuring out which wand belonged to which tube! The 2 mascaras not only have different wands but different formula as well since the ingredient list is given separately for each.
The whole packaging comes housed in a black cardboard box which contains product info and ingredient lists.
The packaging is catchy but I find the thick tube handle a little difficult to hold while applying. I like tapered ends like that of Lancome Hypnose Instant Full Body mascara since the give better grip while applying.
The mascara formula is neither too runny nor too dry. It dries quickly and has a water resistant finish i.e it is not completely waterproof and won’t hold up if one splashes water on the eyes but will not smudge or bleed due to sweating/natural sebum etc.
The Lengthening mascara :
The mascara wand is quite thick and dense at first glance I thought they had misnamed the tube since I always associated dense wands with volumizing effect. But it is in fact the lengthening end. I personally did not like the lengthening mascara so much because it did practically nothing to my lashes. I did not define them well and there are a little bit of clumping. One could say it gives a very natural effect and people who prefer lashes that do not draw attention might like this one. I like my mascara to be little more dramatic or at least define and separate well. It was a miss for me. However, it gave a good effect when applied over the volumizing one (images in the end)
The Volumizing end :
I liked the Volumizing mascara much more than the Lengthening one. The wand was straight and uniform with tiny bristles spaced at some distance. The wand is not characteristic of volumizing mascara but it does a decent job of volumizing. The effect is not impressively volumizing but its a good one for everyday wear.
Volumizing +Lengthening :
While the lengthening mascara alone was not so impressive and the volumizing mascara a little above average, the combination of the 2 gave a lovely effect : definition, volume and length all rolled into one! See images below.
The GOOD about LASHEM Double Trouble mascara :
- Attractive packaging
- Dries fast
- Lengthening end gives natural look
- Volumizing end gives medium volume to the lashes – perfect for everyday wear
- Volumizing+lengthening gives dramatic lashes with definition, volume and length
- Formula is safe for contact lend wearers
- 2 mascaras rolled into 1
- Water resistant formula
- Stays put all day till removed
- The packaging usability can be improved- labels should also be given at extreme ends so that the volumizing and lengthening ends do not get mixed up if one opens both the ends simultaneously
- Not waterproof
- The lengthening end barely gives any effect.
- Does not separate lashes very well, clumps a little
- Only available online, shipping+ price of the product turns out expensive
LASHEM Double Trouble mascara consists of a lengthening mascara at one end and volumizing mascara at the other end which can be used alone or together for a dramatic effect. The packaging is catchy but needs to improve in the usability aspect. The formula is gentle and dries quickly, it did not irritate the eyes, is water resistant and comes off with a cleanser. The lengthening end was a little disappointing , the volumizing end gave satisfactory volume while the combination of the 2 was the more impressive one, that gave good definition, length and volume. I like the concept of the 2 mascaras rolled into 1 but I wish they performed better individually too.
