Hi everyone!

Today I’m reviewing one of my first MAC lipsticks MAC Pro longwear lipcreme  in the shade Perpetual Flame  . I have reviewed MAC lipsticks so far but they have all belonged to my Mum 😛 This lipstick along with Brick-O-La were my first lipsticks from MAC.

Price : Rs 1150

Quantity : 3.6 g

What MAC says about Pro longwear lipcreme :

Lightweight texture, creamy finish and comfortable longwear combine in this has-it-all pro-class lip colour. Slick in use, applies without need of a top coat- and still lasts up to 12 hours. Won’t feather or transfer, and the colour stays true. Helps lips stay soft and hydrated.

My take on the product

MAC Pro longwear lipcremes come in a straight tube packaging with flattened ends. The cap extends to almost the entire length of the tube and has the MAC logo at its end. The packaging is sleeker than the regular MAC lipticks and I really like it except for the bullet. The bullet tip is large and flat which makes it a little difficult to apply especially in the corners of the lower lip. Apart from that, the packaging and design looks classy and smart. The cap fits snugly with a click and the packaging is quite sturdy.

The texture of this lipstick is creamy and intense. It is almost like a matte lipstick in its intense pigmentation as well as finish. The formula is not drying but since its a long wear lipstick, one does feel a need for lip balm/gloss after 3-4 hours of wear. The staying power is amazing! It claims 12 hours stay and for once I can say that the claim is quite almost true! It does not feather, bleed or smudge at all and stays out through meals. The color is really intense and even a small amount applied using a brush gives color that lasts 7+ hours. The color doesn’t get patchy as it fades and stays uniform and even. It doesn’t transfer on contact. Even after that long wear time, one would need a make up remover to remove the stain left by the lip color.

Application tip : Always apply lip color using a brush and built up the intensity. Work the color into the lips using the brush and then blot it and reapply using the same technique. The lip color lasts much longer this way!

The shade Perpetual Flame is deep reddened berry pink with a hint of fuchsia that appears more like a deep rose pink when applied lightly using a brush. When worn directly from the tube, it gives very powerful color and statement making lip. In my FOTD, the color doesn’t look as strong but in real, its a really strong color! The shade can be worn in the day as well as night varying the intensity as one wants. The shade would suit most skin tones but it might look a garish on very dusky skin tones. The shade can look pinker on some skin tones while on some it appears more on the reddish side.  I personally love the color!

The GOOD about MAC Pro longwear lipcreme Perpetual Flame :

  1. Sleek, elegant and sturdy packaging
  2. Smooth creamy texture
  3. Intense pigmentation
  4. Does not dry out the lips
  5. Stays on for 10-12 hours including meals
  6. Does not feather, smudge or bleed
  7. Does not transfer on contact
  8. Does not get patchy as it fades
  9. Lasts a long time even when worn lightly as a stain
  10. Would suit most complexions except very dusky ones
  11. Can be worn in the day as well as night, can be paired with different eye makeup looks as well
The NOT-SO-GOOD about MAC Pro longwear lipcreme Perpetual Flame :
  1. The bullet shape makes it a little difficult to apply on the lips
  2. Lips need a little moisturization after 4+ hours of wear, may not suit very dry lips

How it looks on me :

I’ve worn this lipstick lightly as a stain HERE.

Overall Verdict

MAC Pro longwear lipcremes are creamy, intense long wear lipsticks that stay on for 10+ hours without smudging, feathering or bleeding outside the lip line. The formula isn’t drying by itself but since its long wear, one does feel the need for  lip balm after 4+ hours of wear. The packaging is a straight sleek black tube which looks smart and classy but the flat and large bullet tip makes it a little difficult to apply at the corners. The shade Perpetual Flame is deep reddened berry pink that can be worn with many eye makeup looks, directly from the tube or using a brush lightly. The shade is quite statement making color and it gives a bold strong lip.

Highly recommended !

Rating : 4.5/5

Ohh everyone doesn’t need to pick it up from the office. I have some problem with deliveries thats why I pick it up from the Avon office. You would get it at ur house address if you’ve chosen that option. But do ask your zone leader as to which is your processing and delivery days.

nice shade ankita 🙂 whats on eyes
I have a silly question, what does it mean by wearing lipstick as a stain.

      November 11, 2011 / 7:36 pm

Thanks Vid, the purple shade is Inglot 446 Pearl. Using lipstick as a stain just meaning using a very small amount of the lip color and applying it on the lips either with a brush or finger for a hint of color on the lips.
