My take on the product

I have tried and liked the Pure color range from Lotus Herbals, this was my first lipstick from the Moist petals range.

The lipstick comes in a red and gold packaging with the shade label at one end and the Lotus Herbals logo at the other end. The tube inside is also gold in color. The packaging is sturdy but I’m not too fond of the  red gold combo the way they’ve used it here . The packaging looks a little outdated and I do not see it appealing to young women.

The texture of this lipstick is smooth and creamy. It glides onto the lips and gives opaque color in single swipe. The color can still be built up in intensity in 2 swipes. As the name suggests, it is quite moisturizing. The finish of this lipstick is creamy and glossy which gives a supple hydrated look to the lips. The staying power is quite decent – it stays on for 5+ without meals and about 3-4 hours with meals in between. The color does not smudge, feather or bleed outside the lip line.

The shade 112 Red Rover :

Red Rover is a orange based red with very subtle gold pearl finish. The shade is quite festive with its warm undertone and pearl finish and was introduced with the Festive Glam collection. When worn sheerly using a lip brush over lip balm, it gives a light coral red color to the lips which can be worn for everyday wear as well. When worn directly from the tube, it gives a bright orangeyred color. The gold pearl is barely visible on the lips but can be clearly seen in the bullet. The shade is quite warm and should suit most Indian complexions unless one is very cool toned. The shade might appear a little garish on very dusky women too. It’ll also make a very pretty bridal shade for fair/medium complexions.

I’ve also worn the lipstick in my post – Fall look : Silver smokey eyes with red lips look

Overall Verdict

Lotus Herbals Moistpetals lipstick is a creamy moisturizing and pigmented lip color that stays on the lips for 3-4 hours including meals. The formula is great but the packaging appears a little outdated. The shade Red Rover is orange based red with very subtle gold pearl that brightens the face and can be worn sheerly for everyday wear. Its a pretty shade but may not suit cooler skin tones or very dusky complexions.

Rating : 4/5

Thanks Mahe! You can try products from either Clinique or Vichy for post acne marks treatment. Clinique has them in the anti-blemish solutions range and Vichy has the range names Normaderm for oily acne prone skin. I just reviewed the night cream –

Oh yes I’ve seen it, the one in the light pink and gold packaging. I haven’t heard of any other repeating shade but if they have I’d love to try the Moistpetals version of Peach Creme and Pink Blush ! How long does the longstay one stay?

        November 11, 2011 / 8:56 am

Coming to reds, they also have a “red rose” and a “crimson red” numbered 612 and 610 if I remember….in the same packaging as peach creme and pink blush. those 2 are also nice shades. as for the staying power od the longstay red rover, it’s ok but it fades completely from my lips , no stainn behing…just that i dont like the way it fades on my lips-looks a bit patchy…guess i have always also applied it in a hurry- will try properly this time now that winters r here n let u know?
