Today I’ll be talking about Moisturizers for oily skin which is perhaps the most often asked query I get from readers!

Many women are under the misconception that if they have oily skin, they do not need moisturizer. The truth is, everyone needs moisturizer, you just need the texture and formula suited for your skin type! Moisture/Hydration is different from oil/sebum and if your skin is oily, it does imply that it is hydrated! Oily skinned women need to use light weight moisturizers in form of lotions or gel and should stay away from heavier creams which may log the pores and lead to pimples and blackheads. Oil free moisturizers absorb quickly into the skin leaving behind a clean non-greasy finish.

I was unaware about this for quite a long time and used to skip moisturizer. Acne problems led me to start reading up about skin care for oily skin and that is when I found out about CTM – Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing! Within a few months of using an appropriate Cleanser, Toner and Moisturizer, I noticed a reduction in oiliness and acne and an overall glow in my skin which was lacking before. c

So today I’m sharing some of my favorite moisturizers for oily skin -

 

1. Lotus Herbals alphamoist oil free moisturizer (Rs 175 for 80 ml)

This is was my first moisturizer and very gentle and light weight. I have repurchased that since and recommended it to many readers too.

2. Neutrogena Oil free moisturizer (Rs 250 for 118 ml)

This is another very light weight moisturizer. Best suited for very oily skin or summer season since its quite light. It is also available in another variant for combination skin.

3. Fab India Vitamin E skin hydrating cream for oily skin (225 Rs for 120 ml tube)

This one comes in another variant for normal/dry skin. I did not like the fragrance but apart from that it is  good option too for oily skinned women.

 

 

4. Lotus Herbals 3-in-1 matte daily sunscreen with SPF 40 (Rs 295 for 120 ml)

This is not a moisturizer per-se but I have used it alone directly after toning when my skin is very oily and it gives a clean matte finish with the necessary hydration. Reviewed HERE.

 

 

There are a few other moisturizers I have used when my skin is feeling a little less oily and needs some extra hydration. These are not oil free but have worked beautifully for my skin!

5. Lotus Herbals whiteglow microemulsion (Rs 245 for 40 ml)

This is quite a popular product and loved by all skin types! It could break you out if you have oily/sensitive skin. Best recommended for combination skin type or for winters. Reviewed HERE.

 

 

6. Oriflame aloe vera soothing face cream  (Rs 249 for 75 ml)

I loved using this one too. Very light and soothing on the skin. Makes the skin quite soft and supple.

7. Neutrogena fine fairness lotion with SPF 30 (Rs 240 for 150 ml)

This is not oil free and leaves a thin white cast on the face but its suits me when my skin is in combination phase and also gives a nice glow!

8. Dermalogica Sheer moisture SPF 15 (Rs 2170 for 44 ml)

This is quite an expensive product and has quite a few cons but it is quite hydrating and still keepS the skin oil free for a long time. Reviewed HERE.
