What MAC says about the product :
My take on the product
The lipstick comes in the standard black MAC packaging is which looks sleek and classy but its a pain to locate shades if you own many since there is no colored indication of the shade on the packaging.
The texture of this lipstick is smooth but its not as creamy as the Amplified Creme finishes. The texture is a little creamier and less drying than a matte lipstick. It is very pigmented and single swipe gives opaque color and coverage to the lips. It can be a little drying after some but not too drying. Because of the texture and finish, it lasts for about 4-5 hours after which it leaves behind a stain thats stays another 1-1.5 hours. The color does not smudge or bleed outside the lip line. It has the signature MAC Vanilla fragrance which vanishes after application. Satin finish can be summed up as somewhere between matte and creamy.
The shade Amorous :
MAC describes it as ‘Lovestruck Cranberry’ but I feel a better description would be brown- purple. It is definitely a purply plum lipstick with a bit of brown. Many pale skinned women love this shade but it does nothing for me. I love dark deep shades generally but this shade makes me look a little washed out. I feel its more of a mature lady shade than a young woman shade. Also, its not the kind of shade that everyone can carry easily.
The formula is great but the shade doesn’t work for me!
MAC Satin finish lipsticks are somewhere between matte and creamy – they are very pigmented and smooth, not so drying as matte lipsticks and have a good lasting power of 4-5 hours. Amorous is a browned purple shade that is not too dark but doesn’t work for all skin tones. It can be a favorite with those who can carry browned purples well but these shades wash me out!
If you like purple/plum shades, you can give this one a try.
