What MAC says about the product :
My take on the product
MAC describes the shade as ‘Burgundy with red shimmer‘. It is a burgundy shade but the red shimmer is barely there. At certain angles of light, one can certainly see it in the pan, but apart from that the shimmer is hardly visible. The shade has a strong plum undertone which makes is perfect to pair with violets, purples and plums. It can be worn alone for a smokey look and it looks great with brown and green eyes. It is also the perfect shade to be used as crease color paired with neutral shades on the lid.
The texture, pigmentation and staying power of this shade is one of the poorest of all MAC eye shadows I have tried so far. It feels a little hard and dry and doesn’t swatch well. It needs a little work for seamless blending as well. There is not fall out however during application. I generally get about 7-8 hours of solid wear from MAC eye shadows (without primer) but this shade begins creasing after 3-4 hours. These drawbacks do not imply that one cannot work this shade. It still works quite well but at this price, one would expect better quality.
Despite these cons, I do love how it looks on the eyes especially paired with more vibrant purples and plums. I have used this shade along with Plum Dressing for a soft purple smokey look and I think the combination looks lovely!
The color is awesome but sadly the formula could do with some improvement!
I have used Sketch in the crease, outer corner and lower lash line.
It is one of the less than satisfactory MAC eye shadows I have come across in terms of texture, pigmentation and staying power. The color itself is gorgeous burgundy that works well with neutrals as well as reds and plums. The shimmer is barely visible and it appears almost matte on the eyes. The shade is really lovely but the formula is not worth the price!
