Today I’m reviewing L’oreal Color Riche Shine Gelee lipstick in the shade ‘500 Strawberry Juice‘. I’ve worn in lipstick in my FOTD for the recent reviews and I’ve received a lot of compliments for this one. Its a gift from my Mum and with my love for deep, rich fall shades, this is definitely one of my current favorites.
Price : Rs 690
What L’oreal Paris says about the Color Riche shine gelee lipstick :
What if your lips could have it all…
The delicious colour of a lipstick, the crystal-shine of a lip gloss and the nourishing moisture of a lip balm.
L’Oréal Paris introduces new Color Riche Shine Gelée. Our 1st lip gelée enriched with Royal Jelly. Cocoons lips in a conditioning formula that nourishes like a balm and shines like a gloss.
The caring formula, enriched with naturally derived ingredients; Royal Jelly and Shea Butter, envelops lips with conditioning ingredients that nourish and protect just like a balm. Soft and supple, your lips feel hydrated, nourished and even dry lips feel soothed!
The formula reflects light like a crystal for a shimmering shine effect. The smooth texture glides on effortlessly for a subtle boost of colour with a non-sticky finish.
My take on the product
I have reviewed 2 shades from this range of L’oreal range earlier HERE (both shades from my Mum’s makeup kit). This one is my first L’oreal lipsticks and a gift from my Mum. I deeply dislike the packaging of this product- it is one the most unattractive ones I have across and at this price you would expect the product to look a little more appealing.
To summarize from my previous review :
The texture of these lipsticks is quite soft, smooth and balm-like. They are quite moisturizing and give a lovely, glossy look to the lips. The staying power of this particular shade is good, it lasts about 4 hours on me leaving behind a stain. The color doesn’t stay true those 4 hours but keeps fading with time but since the shade is deep and rich, there is always enough tint on the lips. The texture is really soft and they melt a bit creating a mess around the tube which is one of the major cons.
The shade ‘Strawberry Juice’ is a gorgeous berry-maroon shade with a red undertone. Its neither quite red or maroon and neither quite berry. It contains fine shimmer which doesn’t look overpowering on the lips and just adds to the shine. However, on fading or wiping off, some of the shimmer tends to stay behind which is not pleasant. I love how this formula hugs the lips gives that juicy, wet shine with opaque color. This shade can also be worn lightly for a stained effect and looks equally gorgeous either way.
Highly recommend this shade for all skin tones. It would make a beautiful fall/winter shade.
Apart from the packaging and the mess it creates around the tube, I find the texture, shade, pigmentation and staying power of this shade worth every penny! I did not like the previous shades which I’ve reviewed HERE so much since they did not last well and the shades also weren’t so richly pigmented.
I would rate this particular shade : 4.25/5
