What Clinique says about Anti-Blemish solutions liquid makeup :
The Product is listed as ‘ACNE Solutions’ instead of ‘Anti – blemish solutions on the website but I’m guessing its the same product.
Comes in 12 shades :
My take on the product
I’ve had troubled oily acne-prone skin for a while now and none of the foundations I’ve tried till now were very satisfactory. I have a slight pink undertone in my facial skin which makes finding the absolutely perfect shade a little difficult since most foundations available in India seem a little too yellow or orange for me. Moreover, none of the foundations I’ve used so far gave me good oil control without making my skin look dehydrated. After reading a lot about Clinique’s excellent foundations especially the one specifically meant for acne prone skin, I decided to visit the store and try out one for myself. I tried out the anti-blemish solutions foundation at the store and let it stay on for the entire day and once satisfied that it works well with my skin, I went and purchased it the next day.
The anti-blemish solutions liquid foundation comes in a oval bottomed transparent plastic bottle with a silver cap. The bottle is housed in a pink/lime green cardboard box with a soft floral print. The bottle appears really small but the quantity is same as most other foundation – 30 ml. You need to squeeze the bottle to take out the product though the nozzle. Even though pump dispenser would have been a more convenient packaging, this works OK too. I am generally careful while taking out the product so I’ve not had any mishaps of squeezing out too much product so far. It is always better to start with a small quantity of product and build up if required to prevent wastage especially with expensive products.
The texture of this foundation is a thick lotion-like. It is oil-free and non comodogenic. It spreads easily and you don’t need to rub/work it into the skin much, with barely 1-2 strokes it gets absorbed and achieves the look its supposed to give. The finish of this foundation is not quite matte but not dewy either. It gives a wonderful glow to the skin. I first tried this foundation on at the store and came back home to see how it works on my skin over the entire day. Even after 4-5 hours of application, my skin had a lovely glow, the kind you get after getting a facial done. It gives medium to almost full coverage, hides acne marks and redness quite well. It gives the skin that flawless look without looking too made up. It does not feel cakey or heavy on the skin at all. Its decently good atoil control and for my very oily skin, it gives oil control without the need of touch ups for about 3 hours after which I need to dab a little at my T-zone with a tissue. But even if I do not touch-up, my face doesn’t look excessively oily or oxidized, it just acquires shine and a bit more dewy look which doesn’t look unpleasant at all.
The best part about this foundation is that it contains 2% salicylic acid which helps in fighting acne. It is perfect for acne prone people who are unable to wear foundation when suffering from breakouts. Even though its best to leave your skin breathing naturally when you’re suffering from a lot of break outs, its very reassuring to have an anti-acne foundation with you, in case you need to go out somewhere and need a little coverage on your skin. It doesn’t actually claim to work on acne i.e reduce it but it definitely does not aggravate it it either.
The shade ’04 Fresh Vanilla’ :
Its the closest shade they had to my skin tone which had a pinkish undertone. Its a little bit lighter than my skin tone but not in a way that’ll stand out or show up in pictures. This is the first foundation I’ve found with the pinkish undertone and it definitely suits my skin better than my other foundation which have a little more yellow/orange tones. There are 12 shades listed on the website and I’m sure I saw at least 8 in the store so hopefully most people should find a close match.
This is the best foundation I’ve tried so far- gives an illusion of flawless skin, gives a lovely glow even though it does not contain any shimmer in it, controls oil to a decent extent, despite giving good coverage does not feel too heavy or cakey on the skin. I would highly recommend it to all acne prone women. However, please try the foundation at the store and let it stay for a few hours to test it before investing in it.
I also found a mention of it one of Lisa Eldridge’s makeup videos HERE. For those who are not aware, Lisa Eldridge is a UK based makeup artist who has worked with a lot of celebrities and magazine editorials and has a series of amazing videos.
The skin of my arm is little more yellow than my face which is why the foundation appears a little ashy here :
This is how it looks on me. I’ve lightly topped it with loose powder but the glow is still apparent. I’ve also worn this foundation in my FOTD HERE.
It is a foundation meant for acne prone skin and needless to say, other skin types need not try it out. It contains 2% salicylic acid that helps in clearing out acne. It is the best foundation I have tried so far- gives good coverage to acne marks and redness without looking heavy or cakey, gives a nice glow to the skin (Without any shimmer), controls oil for a decent time and most of all, does not aggravate fresh breakouts and acne. It comes with a price tag but if you are unable to find a suitable foundation for your acne prone skin in drugstore brands, I highly recommend this one to all oily/acne prone skin type women.
Rating : 4.5/5 ( -0.5 for nozzle type packaging)
