Hi everyone!

Today I’m reviewing Avon true color blush in the shade Mad about Mauve. I’ve got a lot of requests for this review in the past few days since I posted this blush in my recent Avon haul and here is the much awaited review!

Price : Rs 399 (I picked it up for Rs 259 in current campaign discount)

Quantity : 6.23 g

What Avon says about True color blush :

Silky Smooth colors with a finish that stay true all day.

My take on the product

Avon’s True color blush range is known for its quality and when I saw these on offer in the current month’s catalog, I immediately picked up the shade ‘Mad about Mauve’ since I didn’t have this kind of shade in my kit.

The packaging is plain black plastic with a reflective finish and rounded edges. It looks quite chic and elegant and reminds me of Chanel packaging. The blush is in a rectangular pan inside the casing alongside a compartment for the brush. The brush is of excellent quality and is slightly fluffy which makes application easier. Generally, most products come with a flat brush which I find difficult to work with but this one has a bit of fluffiness which makes it much more usable. Moreover, its quite soft and you won’t need another blush brush with this product. It comes with a huge mirror on the back side of the cover which is great for touch ups though you won’t need it. I love the packaging- both look-wise and utlity-wise except for the fact that the cover is not transparent so if you own multiple shades, you need to check the label at the back to locate the correct shade.

The texture of the blush is silky smooth and very soft. In fact, its so soft that when you scrape it lightly with the brush, the product starts coming out like loose powder (which also happens with Colorbar blushes). Its not a big con but it can be a little annoying sometimes. The pigmentation of the blush is quite good. I wouldn’t say its insanely pigmented like some of the Colorbar blushes, but its definitely well pigmented enough. It is possible to go overboard with the color hence its better to start with a small quantity of blush when using it for the first time to get a better feel of how much you would need.

The blush blends beautifully and gives a natural finish. The lasting power is quite amazing and even after 8-9 hours of wear, I could  see a hint of color on my cheeks at the end of the day.

The shade Mad About Mauve  :

The color is an earthy mauve-pink shade. The finish is completely matte and it looks very natural. The shade has just the right balance of warm brown and cool mauve-pink to make it work for all skin tones. The shade would make a great earthy pink blush for warm dusky skin tones (upto NC 44 with reference to MAC).  The matte finish and the balance of cool and warm undertones make this shade very versatile- you can pair it with neutrals, with smokey eyes, for day time or  for evening wear.

Highly recommend this shade to everyone!

  2. Silky smooth texture
  3. Good pigmentation
  4. Blends easily to give natural finish
  5. Lasts all day- easily upto 8-9 hours on oily skin (Without primer)
  6. The shade- Mad About Mauve will suit all skin tones

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Avon true color blush T330 Mad about Mauve :

Overall Verdict

It is one of the best blushes I have used so far- elegant packaging, good quality applicator, smooth texture, good pigmentation, great staying power, good blendability and natural universal shade in matte finish! The product is a steal for 6.23 g priced at Rs 259! The shade Mad About Mauve is an earthy mauve-pink shade with a matte finish that’ll suit all skin tones.

Highly recommended!

Available on discounted price Rs 259 in the current campaign , ends 2nd October

Rating : 4.5/5

Molta Mocha is similar to Colorbar Just Earth. Just Earth is a little more orangey but basically same color family!

Hi Ankita, is this similar to nyx desert rose?

Reply
Corallista said on 21-09-2011

I’ve not tried it but from pictures I can see they are a little different. Mad about Mauve has more of a brownish undertone as compared to Desert Rose

Also,I am going to place my avon order soon…had a few queries
If i were to pick either the smooth minerals lipstick(in brick red) and true color blush, which shud it be? I mean which will be a better pick in terms of quality etc.
Also I was interested in the crusade beauty bag…how is it n is it wrth 429 bucks?…thanks

Corallista said on 21-09-2011

Thats a tough one Asvita..it depends on whether u want a red lipstick or a dusty mauve-pink blush. Quality wise both are awesome but I feel the blush would be more useful , you would wear the red for a few occasions but the blush can be worn everyday :) I’ve not seen the crusade beauty bag in person so can’t comment on that!

I like that the lighting changes it so much, it’s complimentary. This packaging looks super familiar but I can’t place my finger on it? Chanel?
