Avon is launching a fabulous jewelry collection in the coming campaigns and I was recently invited to Avon Fashion Tour 2011 which is a jewelry fashion show where the new collections are put on display for the representatives to have a look at followed by a ramp walk by models wearing Avon jewelry.
The Avon Fashion Tour 2011 was held for the first time last year and garnered a tremendous response in terms of sales. This year the collection has been inspired by both Indian as well as international designs. The Indian component is called the Indian DIVA collection which will be launched from next campaign onwards (Campaign 11, starting Sep 6). In fact, Campaign 11 has a separate jewelry brochure.
Here are a few pics of the jewelry on display. The pieces were kept behind a glass display so all the pics have not come so well. The photos of the models wearing the jewelry will give a better idea of how it will look in person .

My experience at the Avon Fashion tour 2011
The event was held at Hotel Trident Oberoi in South Mumbai. When I reached the venue, the event room was packed with Avon reps and Sales leaders and the atmosphere was charged with excitement. Well, ladies do love jewelry! 😛 The new collection of jewelry was put up on display and reps had an option of placing orders today itself to get assured household electronic items as gifts.
This was followed by the main event- the fashion show. The hostess, after the customary welcome note and introduction, invited the Managing Director of Avon, Mr. Hemant Singh to address the audience. Mr. Singh talked about Indian Diva collection, the inspiration behind it and the quality, wearability and designs of Avon jewelry that has made it so popular today. This was followed by presentations and videos by the marketing and sales heads of Avon depicting how each piece of Avon jewelry is hand crafted and tested for the highest quality and durability.
Post the presentations, the most awaited part of the event finally kickstarted with models walking the ramp wearing Avon jewelry from the international collection. The models wore flowing monochrome gowns for this segment to keep in tone with the design of the jewelry. I couldn’t help but observe the beautiful brown-black smokey eye makeup worn by the models 😛 (Its only natural, I am a makeup blogger!). Paired with an earthy pink glossy lip, earthy blush and a generous amount of highlighter, the makeup looked great on the ramp and complimented the attire well without stealing focus. Hair was tied neatly in a side bun with a bit of vintage touch at the front. Overall, the look was simply gorgeous!
For the Indian DIVA collection, the models wore simple ethnic outfits – sarees, lehenga cholis, in shades of pink, yellow, orange and red adorned with a little bit of golden border here and there . Some of the models had worn the neck pieces as head pieces or around their waistlines which looked really pretty. There were screens placed at the sides showing a close up of the ramp walk (as seen in some images below)
Overall, the collection is beautiful and more importantly wearable! The quality, cut and brilliance of the stones and pearls was impressive. It hardly looks like costume jewelry. The collection has a quite a nice variety- pieces that can be worn in everyday life as well as dressier pieces for occasions. None of the pieces have the look of ‘heavy’ jewelry and have a very understated, classy and elegant look. Moreover, for the quality and design, they are priced quite well and would not burn a hole in the pocket. There are a few gift sets in the collection as well.
The price range is Rs 699- Rs 1699.
