Recently, I posted pics of my NYX cherryculture.com haul and NYX Powder blush in Cinnamon a.k.a the ‘orange’ blush was the most sought after product!
Here’s the much awaited review 😛

Ingredient list :

My take on the product :
NYX is known for its excellent blushes- both powder and cream form but sadly apart from the shade- Cinnamon did not live up to my expectations. The packaging is simple, sturdy though not very attractive. The transparent lid is useful to locate shades without checking the labels if you own multiple shades.
The texture of this blush is smooth and brush picks up product easily. The pigmentation is also good though single swipe gives sheer color and you can layer up the color for a more intense look. I was very careful with the quantity since I didn’t want to go overboard with a blush shade I was trying for the first time 😛 and it took 3-4 swipes of small amounts of blush to get the right color.
The blendability is better than NYX Red blush but it could be a little better. The most disappointing factor was its staying power. I wore a primer underneath and it barely lasted 3-4 hours on me while the Red blush (which is very pigmented and stains!) lasted 6-7 hours on me without even a foundation underneath.
The shade Cinnamon :
Its a yellowish orange with a slight milkiness to it – not my preferred kind of orange but then orange blushes are not easy to find! In the swatch it looks quite scary but when applied on cheeks, it gives the same effect as most warm blushes- a subtle glow and color to the face. It contains very very fine shimmer which is barely noticeable. Despite how it looks in the pan and swatch, I find it a wearable orange- neither too pigmented, nor too intense and hence can be carried off in everyday wear too. It is not one of the natural looking shades but neither is it a very in-your-face sort of orange.
Its important to keep the rest of the makeup in coordination with the orange blush. I preferred to keep the rest of my makeup warm as well with a deep bronze-gold eye shadow, brown liner and mascara on the eyes and a coral-red tinted lip balm on the lips. I actually did not like the choice of my lip color so much so I’ll give it another shot with warmer lip later.
The GOOD about NYX Cinnamon Powder blush –
- Simple, sturdy packaging- transparent lid makes it convenient to locate shades.
- Smooth texture.
- Good pigmentation- sheer color in 1 swipe which can be layered to give more intense color.
- Blends well- does not look patchy.
- Gives a warm glow to the face.
- Unusual shade!
- Did not break me out or irritate my skin in any way.
- Great price(when picked up online), huge quantity!
- Bad staying power- even with primer it vanishes within 3-4 hours.
- Not easily available in India.
- The shade may not suit everyone.
Overall Verdict : The standout feature of this blush is the shade! Orange has been a rage this season and for those looking to experiment- its a good option at an affordable price. The texture, pigmentation and blendability are quite average and the staying power leaves a lot to be desired. The shade has an unflattering milky yellow touch to it but still manages to give the face warmth and a bit of glow. Contains barely-there micro fine shimmer.
Recommended to those wanting to try out an orange blush.
Will I repurchase: In other shades, Yes. One orange blush is enough for now 😛
