Today I’m doing a step-wise photo tutorial of a neutral office wear eye makeup. This look was requested by many and I hope you all like it 🙂
For a natural looking subtle eye makeup- it is important to not use any strong colors or harsh lines. Eye shadows in shades like soft browns and neutral pinks paired with brown liner and mascara give a very natural and polished look.
This is the look I created for this tutorial :
Here’s the tutorial –
Step 1 : Prime your lids, conceal under eye
Since you need your eye makeup to last the entire working day, it is important to give a good base for the eye shadow to stick on so that it doesn’t crease or fade while you are half way through your day. Also apply concealer under the eyes and make sure to cover the outer corner and inner corner too. I have used MAC Paint pot ‘Painterly’ to prime my lids and Colorbar concealer 03 Almond Coffee. I have used my ring finger to apply the products and blend.
Step 2 : Apply a matte neutral brown eye shadow all over lid.
Choose a matte shade that is close to your skin tone so that it looks natural. I have used MAC eye shadow ‘Soft Brown’. Use an eye shadow applicator brush .
Step 3: Use a darker brown or pink/plum brown shade on outer corner and crease.
Use a darker neutral shade- like a matte brown or brownish pink/plum shade with pearl finish and apply on outer corner and crease. I have used MAC eye shadow ‘Sable’. This will give a little dimension and depth to the eyes. Use a narrow eye shadow applicator/crease brush. I have used MAC 217 held perpendicularly to apply Sable.
Step 4: Blend the eye shadows.
Now, soften the edge at the crease and blend the eye shadows together for a smooth transition of shades. I have used MAC 217 to blend.
Step 5 : Apply brown liner on waterline and upper lash line.
Black looks a little harsh, so I’ve applied a dark brown kohl on waterline and used the same to line upper lash line. I’ve used Bourjois kohl and contour pencil ‘Brun expressif’. I have softened the edges of the liner using a line softener brush (optional)
Step 6: Highlighter brow bone, inner corner and apply mascara
As the last step, apply a subtle highlighter on inner corner and brow bone and see how it makes the eyes appear brighter(I used a small unbranded brush for this). Finish off with defining mascara. I have used Oriflame Giordani gold lash fascination mascara in shade ‘Brown’.
