Over 5 years ago, when I first started learning about makeup and putting together a basic makeup kit, I bought one of my first foundations from The Body Shop. It was the oil-free one which worked quite well on my oily, acne prone skin and I believe I almost used up the whole bottle before moving to others. I love foundations that give a natural, fresh finish so needless to say, I was very curious to try out the Fresh Nude Foundation from The Body Shop that hit stores in India last month. This hydrating foundation claims all day comfortable wear and 24 hour moisturization. Though globally available in 16 shades, only 7 have launched in India but there is still a fair bit of variety.
I would have normally gone for the shade 40 or 45 but since this was accompanied by the launch of the Shade Adjusting Drops that help you lighten any foundation shade, I decided to go with a darker shade, 55 Yukatan Honey, to test out the Shade Adjusting Drops. You might recall seeing this combination in action in my Summer Color Makeup Tutorial.
The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation, Shade Adjusting Lightening Drops
I was recently introduced to a new skincare brand, Aviance, which has just launched online at Nykaa.com and today I’ll be talking about their White Intense range. Skincare in the summers can be a tough task as the skin tends to get dull, dehydrated and tanned because of the heat and sun exposure. I think the White Intense range is very summer-friendly as the textures of the products are light and fresh on the skin and the ingredients help fight pigmentation and sun spots.

The Forest Essentials Floral Makeup Remover comes in a simple bottle packaging with a screw on golden cap and a plastic stopper. While the packaging is functional no doubt, I think a pump may have been more convenient and travel-friendly. The remover is a blend of carrier oils such as oils of Jojoba,Olive and Sunflower along with anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E and Wheat Germ Oil. In addition, it contains Jasmine flower oil and Rose flower extract. The oils are also infused with Marigold flowers which give it a distinct floral scent which I find mild and pleasant.
As a makeup remover, its definitely quite effective as the oil breaks down the toughest waterproof, long-wearing makeup formulations in a jiffy. It does however leave an oily film on the skin so it needs to be followed up with another cleanser, especially important if you have oily or acne prone skin as the oil residue may result in clogged pores. While my most preferred way of makeup removal is a cleansing oil or balm which emulsifies and washes off completely with water, I do like this over bi-phase makeup removers which tend to be harsh and drying on the skin. Micellar waters are great for light makeup but for long wearing makeup, you need something with an oil base and this remover works very well in that department.
It’s that time of the year when most of us are planning a summer vacation, probably a beach getaway to rejuvenate and recharge. The sun and the sea are always a big inspiration for summer collections and this season, Vero Moda has launched a beautiful collection inspired by the cool blue and white hues of Santorini, the ultimate destination for a beach vacation.
I’ve partnered with Vero Moda and one of my favorite beauty brands, Clinique, to create a day and evening look for you. I’ve picked out a comfortable maxi dress from this collection that is perfect for a relaxed day by the beach and can be easily dressed up for an evening out with just a few tweaks. I’m also going to show you a full beauty tutorial for a fresh, glowy and relaxed look and a glam evening look with a pop of color! Hope you enjoy this post. Read on further for the product details.

Chanel Le Blush Creme de Chanel Revelation
1. Are you wearing any makeup today?
I did a basic, quick look today using Lancome Cushion Foundation (reviewing soon), Clinique Loose powder, black liner & mascara, Chanel Cream blush in Revelation (love it!) and MAC Soar lip pencil blotted down on the lips.
2. Share your current favorite TV show.
My husband and I discovered The Blacklist earlier this week and its pretty good! Its a crime drama and if you enjoy thrillers, you’d like this one.
3. Do you use hand creams?
I didn’t use a dedicated hand cream for the longest time but recently I’ve been using The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protectorat bedtime and it feels seriously nourishing and wonderful on the skin. Its a bit heavy so its not something I would like to use in the day time.
Skincare doesn’t always have to be expensive and there are several natural and inexpensive ways of solving everyday skin issues. In this post, I’ve shared some quick and easy recipes which you can whip up at home in no time. They are all natural and work wonders for your skin when followed regularly! Here are 5 natural beauty tips for your face –
Simple Honey face mask
Raw Honey acts as an anti-bacterial and is a quick way of getting soft and beautiful skin. Apply a honey mask to your face by taking some raw honey on your fingertips and apply it gently on your face. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off gently with warm water and pat dry. That’s it, this application will make your skin smooth and supple and all you’ve to do is give 5-10 minutes of your time once a week.
Cucumber Juice and milk cream
This tip is amazing for the skin during the harsh heat conditions. Mix cucumber juice with half a teaspoon of milk cream, apply it on clean skin and spread it evenly on your entire face. Let it stay for 15 minutes and then wash off thoroughly.
This week’s discussion is all about lip liners! Do you use lip liners regularly? Which brand and shades do you like the most? I personally have quite a few lip liners (a ton of NYX ones though I use very few of them) and its hard to pick a favorite. But the one that I’ve used a lot since I bought it last year is Soar by MAC. Its the perfect dusty rose shade that adds just the right tint of pink and works pretty much with any pink lip color. I like to wear it by itself or with a sheer pink lip color over it. I’m also a big fan of the shade Spice, also by MAC.
MAC Lip Pencil Soar + Estee Lauder Lip Potion Not So Innocent
Talking of slightly more affordable liners, I think Brick Rose and Red Alert by Lakme are fantastic and a must for everyone! I also love Peekaboo Neutral and Natural by NYX which are fantastic nudes for my complexion and very budget friendly!
Its summertime and metallic bronze/gold eyes with coral lips and cheeks is one of my favorite looks for the warmer season. I’ve created a simple party look using this color combination and mostly budget products as many of you had requested. Hope you enjoy this video! If you’d like to see more budget videos, do let me know in the comments below the video!
This spring-summer, Clinique has launched a few new lip products to their Pop line – the Glaze, Lacquer and Pop Oil and today I’m reviewing the Pop Oil in a juicy red color – Poppy Glow. This is a lip and cheek gel-oil that adds a soft flush of color and is perfect for everyday wear.
One of my favorite luxury brands, Forest Essentials, has recently launched at Nykaa.com! Here are a few new products I received recently, very kindly sent by the brand and Nykaa.com.
